48 Hours in Siem Reap

Siem Reap is near the top of my "must travel to" list. With it's culture that is vastly different than my American lifestyle, and temples of Angkor Wat, you can bet your money that I'd definitely spend a few days, at the least, in this Southeastern Asia city! Thankfully, my friend Leah at Urban 20 Something has spent a significant amount of time in the city and put together a "48 hours in Siem Reap" city guide for me!

If you’re planning on visiting Cambodia soon, you’re in for a treat. It’s such a special country with some of the most beautiful, historical sights in the world. Not to mention, among the gentlest and kindest people on earth. When in Cambodia, remember to be kind to the people and the country, and it will be kind back to you. I was lucky enough to spend nearly 2 months volunteering in Siem Reap, and I miss it all the time. Enjoy it!

Siem Reap is an interesting city. It’s not nearly as big as Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh. Yet, because of its proximity to Angkor Wat, it’s certainly becoming a buzzing hub. I absolutely love Siem Reap, and am confident you will, too. Added bonus, it’s one of the safest cities in Southeast Asia. Here’s what you can’t miss, and some tips and what to do and what not to do.

Third Quarter Check In: 2016 Goals

Read at least one book per month. For the second quarter, I read David & Goliath, The Art of Seduction, and The Alchemist. I've been chipping away at Daring Greatly for the past few months. Currently reading Eat, Pray Love while traveling. While it hasn't been exactly one book per month, I'm glad to have checked some of the books off of my "to read" list this year.

Travel to one new country. DONE! This year, I exceed my goal, and travelled to Greece, Turkey, and Portugal! While in Greece and Turkey, I travelled with Life Before Work's YachtLife. Read more about my experience here.

Visit 3 National Parks. DONE! Another goal exceeded! I've visited five national parks this year: Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef.

Pay off all credit card debt. Two credit cards down, one to go! Almost there!

Save at least $2000. I plan to start saving as soon as all credit card debt is paid off!

Focus on learning one new skill per month. HAHAHAHA. This hasn't worked out so well all year...

Create a resume website and professional blog. I haven't started this one yet, but hopefully this one will be in the works before the year is over...hopefully...

Summit a 14,000 ft mountain. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to complete this one. :(

Snowboard down a green run (other than the bunny hills).

Blog 2-3 times per week.

How are you doing on your goals for 2016?

With Love,

Life Before Work: My Experience

Back in August, I had an opportunity to join a travel company called Life Before Work on their YachtLife Mediterranean tour through Turkey and Greece. This summer was physically and emotionally draining after a fall out with a good friend and from my hospitality management career. Ironically, the week previous to receiving an invitation to join the trip, I was literally researching "how to work on a yacht in Greece" on Google, desperate to leave my then unhappiness behind. YachtLife could not have happened at a better time.

This post is sponsored by Life Before Work but all opinions are 100% my own.

Allow me to set the scene.
