Pineapple Raspberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Since moving to Colorado, one of the healthiest states in the USA, my eating habits, err, sugar cravings, have been magnified. Over the winter I started to make simple changes to my diet such as reaching for a piece of fruit instead of chocolate when the cravings come in tough (...you know, ladies...). It's too bad Mother Nature can't bring some fresh baked cookies with her when she visits. Wouldn't that be nice?

Lately, I've found that I'm naturally looking for lighter treats instead of heavy baked goods so I've been juicing and making lots of smoothies, particularly this pineapple raspberry banana smoothie. Who doesn't love a tropical drink served in a pineapple?

Ingredients:
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup pineapple
1 banana
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup ice

Cut the top off of the pineapple. Using a knife, cut a circle into the pineapple and spoon the pineapple out of the rind creating a cup. This would be much easier if you have a pineapple corer rather than using a knife!

Place all of the ingredients in a blender. I started with the ice crusher mode to break up the ice and pineapple then went into smoothie mode on my blender.

Once blended to your likeness, pour into the pineapple cup, garnish to your liking with funky straws, mini umbrellas, or slices of fruit! Enjoy!

I find that the banana helps alleviate cramps, while the other fruits help with bloat. I use almond milk instead of real milk because of an intolerance and find that I'm less bloated when I stay away from dairy. It's a delicious light drink that's pretty stylish, too.

Speaking of style, how adorable are U by Kotex®'s new Style n' Store packs? I found them in my local Walmart while I was grocery shopping. They come in 4 bold designs filled with U by Kotex® Barely There® Liners or U by Kotex® Cleanwear® Ultra Thin Pads. I love the fun designs and the drawer compartment - I can leave it out on the bathroom counter without having to worry about freaking out my male roommate.

What matters to you during 'that' time of the month? I invite you to show off what matters to you on Instagram with hashtag #WhatMatterstoU!

You can now get fun rewards when you purchase 2 packs of U by Kotex® products at Walmart! Text UbyKotex to 811811 and upload a photo of your receipt then go to UbyKotexrewards.com and register to choose your customized reward (gift cards, magazines, and music)!

  12. I want to have this smoothie just to drink it out of a pineapple! ;) But I hear ya on the sugar cravings... Now I can't do my own grocery shopping so I'm forced to be pretty healthy, which is a good thing, but sometimes it just would be nice to have a chocolate bar or something thrown into the mix.

  13. This looks quite delicious & refreshing. I love pineapples in just about everything...well until I get that numb sensation from all the acid but that usually doesn't happen unless I eat an entire pineapple :D xx Adaleta Avdic
