First Quarter Check In: 2016 Goals

Personal

Read at least one book per month. I've been doing really well with this goal so far! I kicked off the year with 'Secrets of a Six Figure Woman,' followed by 'Strengths 2.0' and 'Total Money Makeover.' In March I read 'Habits: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business.' Currently, I'm reading 'David and Goliath.' These books have certainly been educational and beneficial reads to reinforce other goals for the year.

Travel to one new country. I haven't been able to escape Vail as of yet, but I do have some travel plans in the making for later this year.

Visit 3 National Parks. I haven't visited any yet, but I am going to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks later this month for some spring hiking and am hoping to get Sequoia, Yellowstone, Zion, Yosemite, and Grand Canyon National Parks in this year.

Financial

Pay off all credit card debt. One credit card down, two to go! I have one more payment to make on one of those two, too, so I am making good progress on this goal.

Save at least $2000. I plan to start saving as soon as all credit card debt is paid off!

Professional

Focus on learning one new skill per month. This one has been a little difficult with how busy work was this winter season, but I was able to start some coding classes in the meantime through Codacademy!
     In Design
    Photoshop
    Digital Photography
    HTML/CSS
    Javascript
    German
    Russian
    Spanish

Create a resume website and professional blog. I haven't started this one yet, but hopefully with more free time on my hands, this one will be in the works.

Health

Summit a 14,000 ft mountain. My friends and I have a similar goal on this one so this will definitely be accomplished at some point this summer.

Snowboard down a green run (other than the bunny hills).
ACCOMPLISHED!!! I also went from the top of the mountain, to the edge of the back bowls, and snowboarded all the way down to the base! It was excruciating and overwhelming, but I'm so glad I accomplished this goal. All the lessons and hardwork paid off. I see why people are so passionate and addicted to snowboarding and skiing!

Blog

Blog 2-3 times per week.
So far this has been a total fail, but I'm not giving up on this goal!

How are you doing on your 2016 goals so far?

With Love,
Ashliegh

  1. I am also planning to make some post about my goals in 16 and what is happening. PS for language learning you can use Duolingo :) I learn German there (basic) and it is really great for starting . I will use it also for Dutch because it seems I will be in Holland for few months. Good luck in rest of the year!
