How to Make: Gold Striped Glasses

As you might know, both of my little sisters are getting married soon. Well, soon is this weekend. Amiee's wedding is on Saturday and Brittney's wedding is on Monday. With the upcoming nuptials comes the traditional bridal showers and bachelorette parties. Brittney is opting out of having bridesmaids and since I am an awesome big sister, I made myself the unofficial maid of honor and planned her bachelorette party and bridal shower last weekend. Fun was had by all with laser tag, girlfriend time, and lots of my special bridal shower punch (no worries, it was non-alcoholic). To prepare, I crafted these gorgeous gold striped glasses. They were super easy to create so I figured I would share this DIY with you!

Girls Night Out Makeup Tutorials

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WalgreensBeauty #CollectiveBias

Since I received a natural eyeshadow palette for my birthday, I've really felt the need to add more natural eyeshadow palettes to my collection as well. Unfortunately, they can be pretty costly and don't fit into my post-grad budget. You can imagine my excitement when Maybelline released their new The Nudes palette! I've been wanting to create some fun makeup tutorials for this blog so I immediately ran to my local Walgreens to pick up the palette and a few other beauty must haves (hello, Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains!).

In college I loved going out on the weekends with my girlfriends. It was the perfect opportunity to get dolled up and do some serious gabbing with my sorority sisters. My go-to look for girls night out was (and still is) a bronze smokey eye and a bold lip color. The Nudes palette features 12 gorgeous shades that are perfect for creating a smokey eye or a more natural look. It's very versatile and I'm blown away by the quality of this drugstore find. Also, if you haven't tried Revlon's Colorstay Moisture Stains yet, what are you waiting for?! These beauties are packed with pigment, go on so smooth, and last for hours. I would say these are the manna of the drugstore beauty market! I was able to get a deep discount on mine when I found a coupon on my Walgreens Paperless Coupon app!

5 Reasons to Practice Yoga at Home

In college I really enjoyed practicing yoga at the rec center. I would do my best to attend all of the classes and found them to be so relaxing. When I started to take my pageant training seriously, I also started noticing how yoga transformed my body. Yoga gave me the long and lean muscles that I wanted and I didn't have to sacrifice my strength to get there. Now that I've graduated, I don't have access to my beloved rec center anymore. Thankfully, I discovered Reflexion Yoga which offers hundreds of yoga classes online. Since the classes are online, its definitely easier to continue my yoga practice on my own time from the comforts of my home. Here are a few reasons why you should practice yoga at home too!

1. You can do it wherever you want. Since you're practicing at home, you can do it anywhere! You can access Reflexion Yoga's classes from your desktop computer, laptop, iPad, smart phone or even hook your computer up to your TV! Sometimes I even take my laptop outside and practice yoga in the backyard.

2. No need to stick to a prescribed class time. Since Reflexion Yoga's classes are online, I can access them anytime I want - in the morning before class, during sunset, before lunch, whenever it fits into my schedule! Reflexion Yoga also offers 15 minute classes, 30 minute classes, 45 minute classes, and hour long classes which also helps when it comes to scheduling my workout for the day. While the instructors are online, they actually have a real student whom they guide through the poses. They point out certain things that the student may be doing wrong that are easy to correct, allowing you to learn more about how to do the poses the right way.

3. You can change the routine if you don't like it. The classes are divided into various difficulty levels. Sometimes I might select a video that is a bit too challenging, and when that happens I can easily stop the video and select a different option!

One of my favorite videos on Reflexion Yoga!

4. You don't get the feeling of being judged or watched like you do in a fitness center class. While I loved attending yoga classes with an in-person instructor, I also hated the feeling of being judged by my fellow students (even though we all know no one is really judging you cause their too focused on themselves being judged). Now that I practice yoga from home, I don't have to worry about that feeling anymore.

5. It's more affordable. Reflexion Yoga costs only $12 month or $99 for an annual membership. That's way more affordable than a monthly gym membership which could cost around $20-$40 per month. They also offer a free 15 day trial so you can test out the videos before you commit to purchasing a monthly or annual membership.

Do you practice yoga?

Too Faced Bonjour Soleil Bronzing Wardrobe Review

Back in June, I made a beauty purchase without reading any reviews first. This occurrence was quite weird for me. I always read a million reviews and watch a ton of Youtube vloggers review products before deciding to purchase it for myself. Well, this item quickly became my favorite beauty purchase ever. I featured it in my June Favorites and decided the Too Faced Bonjour Soleil Bronzing Wardrobe deserved it's own blog post.  Check this beauty out!

This palette features a trio of Too Faced bestselling cocoa-infused bronzers: Chocolate Soleil, a medium matte bronzer; Sun Bunny, a light and medium shimmery bronzer; and Snow Bunny, a very light luminous bronzer that is more like a highlighter. The palette also came with one of the teddy bear kabuki brushes which is so incredibly soft (and made cruelty-free)!

My favorite of the three bronzers is Chocolate Soleil. I'm all about contouring and as a (former?) pageant girl, I learned early on that matte is the way to go as it looks better on stage! All three are very natural looking and not orange-y. Since they are cocoa-infused, you are enveloped in a chocolate scent when you open the case. The case is a nice tin case with magnetic closure. Unfortunately, the magnets must not be too strong because the case opens very easily. While this product is great for traveling since you have your bronzing and highlighting needs covered, I would recommend slipping a rubber band or hair tie over the case to keep it closed.

The great thing about these bronzers is that they are formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. They are pigmented, very blendable, and make my skin glow. I swatches Chocolate Soleil, Sunny Bunny light, and Sun Bunny dark below. Too Faced went above and beyond and also included a card that features three looks. This makes it super easy for a non-beauty guru to create a stunning look with this product.

As I said, this palette has quickly become one of my favorite beauty purchases. While the price tag is a bit intimidating ($44 at Sephora), it's definitely worth it. I use this practically everyday and I'll probably cry the day I hit the pan!

What is your favorite bronzer? Leave your recommendation in the comments!

Ashliegh

1 Shirt Styled 3 Ways

After a long day at #HerConference last week, Allison and I spent some quality time roommate bonding time at the J.Crew. When Allison spotted this striped sleeve tee shirt on sale, we both ended up purchasing it. Then when I posted this photo on Instagram (yes, Allison and I also bought matching baseball hats, haha!), Ingrid commented saying she had the same tee shirt, too! It was then that we decided that we had to do a style collaboration.

The three of us have different but relatable styles. Ingrid's outfit is perfect for a day at the beach while Allison's would be cute for a date night or a girls night out at the local wine bar. I wore my outfit while walking around the vintage shops in my hometown. Make sure to go visit their blogs and check out the details of how they styled their tee shirt!

By the way, this shirt is on sale at J.Crew for $24.99! You can also use code "TREAT" for an additional 50% off!

Grilling Season

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BackyardBash #CollectiveBias

With summer comes the sweet scents of grilling season. I swear, every weekend the neighbors are out having adorable cookouts and BBQ's with their family and friends. Christian has been going on and on about how he wants to learn to grill. Well, this weekend, we finally hosted our first backyard bash…of sorts. I had everything planned out. Christian would learn to grill from his friend Sam. We would all enjoy the beautiful sunshine and food and then cook s'mores over a bonfire in the evening. Unfortunately, we didn't account for absurd amount of rain.

While my first motto may be "high heels, high standards, pearls everyday" I would consider my second motto to be "the show must go on!" And so it did inside the comforts of our dining room and garage. The cold rain never bothered me anyway.  Even though there was only four of us, we went way overboard on the food. Sam and Christian grilled turkey dogs, burgers, and shrimp scampi all of which turned out to be delicious! We also drank about as much Dr Pepper Cherry soda as there was rain! Yes, I am from Ohio and I call carbonated beverages "soda."

#HerConference Recap (+Giveaway!)

What do you get when you combine inspiring women entrepreneurs, amazing bloggers, and a whole lot of learning? An amazing weekend in NYC for HerCampus' National Intercollegiate Conference (#HerConference)! For the past few days, I have been surrounded by like-minded young women from all over the country. I was able to meet some of my blog crushes and many of my blogging besties. The opportunities and connections that come along with blogging are incredible. It has been such a blessing to meet these women and learn from them.

Her Campus Blogger Network with Her Campus Founders
Quinn // Ingrid // Windsor // Annie // Stephanie // Allison // Me

I was able to hear many incredible women speak about their experiences with entrepreneurship. They definitely did not make it seem completely glamorous, which I appreciated. They spoke candidly about the bumps and bruises that occurred during their business adventures as well as the opportunities that came along.

My favorite panels of the day was "Behind the Blog"featuring Carly (The College Prepster), Mackenzie Horan (Design Darling), Jessica Sturdy (Bows & Sequins), and Hallie Wilson (Corals + Cognacs). These ladies gave fantastic advice in regards to blogging. They discussed their favorite blogging networks, where they see blogging going in the future, developing a personal voice, and marketing a blog. I truly valued the knowledge that they shared and having the opportunity to speak with each of them afterwords. How could I pass up a photo opp with Carly?

One of my blogging besties, Briana from Royally Pink - Recognize her from the sidebar?!
Blogging besties: Caroline from The Caro Diaries and Ingrid from Smilingrid

Outside of the conference, I had an absolute BLAST hanging out with my roommates, as you can see in the hilariously embarrassing pictures below! Allison and Sarah are so candid, funny, and so down-to-earth. We were hit on by Brazilian men on a rooftop bar, shopped way too hard on 5th Avenue, and ate absurd amounts of food…all while looking extremely fabulous (photos credit to Caroline).

That's how you do duck-face.

Thanks to Twitter, we were also able to arrange an impromptu cupcake meet up with Larissa from Livin' Like LARZ. This girl is the definition of fabulous. Seriously. She's incredibly inspiring and she's not going to wait around for opportunities to find her. She goes out there and creates her opportunities. She's a breath of fresh air and I am so glad we were able to meet up, even for a brief amount of time!

 Sarah // Allison // Larissa

Overall, it was a great weekend. If you ever get the opportunity, attend a conference and plan meet ups with your favorite bloggers! There's no way you'll regret it and you'll take away so much information to grow.

Have you ever attended a conference? Which one?

I'm The Girl Who...

…Loves Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer but cannot afford any of it.

…Thought maxi dresses and maxi skirts were weird last summer and now wears them all the time this summer. You can view those outfits here, here, and here.

…Goes crazy for good sale and clearance racks.

…Always needs to be doing something. I relax by being productive!

…Loves cheesy best friend movies like Aquamarine, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, etc. It's kind of embarrassing how much I love these movies.

…Dreams of being an entrepreneur. Of what kind of business, I'm not sure yet. I like the idea of opening a boutique!

…Is completely obsessed with sorority recruitment. Why am I not in college anymore!? #FutureSororityAdvisor

…Writes thank you notes like it's my job.

…Doesn't understand laying out in the sun all afternoon. Even at the beach. It's just so boring!

…Doesn't understand midi rings, crop tops, high waisted cut off shorts, cut off shorts, and shorts with an instead less than 3". Why are these things trending?

…How to use an iPhone properly. Seriously. Without Rachael's help, I'd be completely clueless on what iMessage or whatever that is…

…Is completely disorganized. My room is a hot mess. There's so many papers piled into my planner and I can never find anything. I try to stay organized and clean everything up once a week but within a day, it's a mess again. How do you people do it?!

…Tried to watch The Walking Dead but ended up not sleeping for two weeks. It was awful. So many nightmares were induced by that show. BUT IT'S SO GOOD.

…Hates chevron yet has a chevron dress…explain that one to me…

…Spends way too much time working on blog stuff. Is spending too much time working on your blog such a thing? Nah.

…Participated in #TheInspireSwap hosted by Rachael! I was paired with the darling Amanda who blogs at Cats, Cudding, and Carrot Cake. She was an absolutely wonderful partner and has so many big goals! She hopes to get her doctorate degree, own a kitten, and develop a consistent blogging schedule. Go check out what I sent her

Amanda sent me the sweetest box filled with adorable goodies!

She made the pens, bookmarks, and keychain herself! She knew I loved my sorority, want to read more this year, and hope to get my driver's license soon! I love traveling so she sent a travel journal and a #CEOmaterial notepad for when I figure out my next business venture! The chocolate and raspberry Godiva bar almost didn't make it into the picture! I definitely had to use some self-control in waiting to eat that deliciousness! Thank you so much for the wonderful box, Amanda!

What kind of girl are you, Darling? Would love to hear how you would finish this sentence: I'm the girl who…

What is your favorite thing about blogging?: Most definitely reading comments and emails after a "deeper" post is published. It's usually one where I felt pretty goshdarn vulnerable, like this one or this one, scared of putting my serious thoughts and emotions and feelings out there on the world wide web for all to see.
Why do you blog?: I actually wanted to (and still want to, someday...) write a book. My dream was to have this "best friend" feel, where I could provide insight and advice in a relatable way while still giving a good laugh or provoking thought on a deeper level. Blogging was a perfect stepping stone, though, since now I can talk about whatever I want, whenever. AND I can add pretty pictures and network with some pretty amazing ladies along the way. What could be better?
Besides blogging, what are your favorite hobbies?: Blogging. Oh, besides blogging? Playing piano, pretending I'm a yogi, singing loudly in the shower and in hotel rooms, obsessing over The Bachelor, trying to beat 2048, shopping off-price retail, geeking out over branding, working towards 20 lb. bicep curls and Olivia Pope's coat collection. That sums it up.
Fun fact about yourself: I have a tattoo. And my alter ego's name is La'Taniana'Bo'Vanashrianiqualiquanice.

Summer Trend: Pineapples

Button Up: Old // Shorts: J.Crew Factory // Belt: Old // Sandals: Jack Rogers //
Necklace: Armed & Readi // Nail Polish: Julep Maven // Blush: Urban Decay Flushed Palette

Is it just me or are pineapples everywhere this summer?! Not only are they in my grocery store (yum!) but they're all over my favorite clothing, too. I caught these 5"pineapple print chinos on sale at J.Crew and knew it was meant to be, especially considering they were the last pair in the store and in my size! Score! I styled it with a striped button up and Jack Rogers sandals for a day out running errands.

What do you think of the pineapple trend? How would you style these shorts?

Meet Ashley from A Faithful Passion

"Hey guys! I'm Ashley over at A Faithful Passion and blogging has become a great passion of mines. I hail from a medium town in Texas so I'm a southern girl at heart. I started blogging because I felt that it was placed on my heart within my faith and the fact that I LOVE to read so why not mix em' both! I blog because I have a platform to voice my opinions, thoughts, and interact with like minded people. It feels good to have people that understand things I've been through and to be able to share our lives with each other. I came up with my blog's name because I have a strong faith and base everything off of that and then I'm VERY passionate in my life. Everything is either 0 or 100%. There will NEVER be any gray area with me."

I love how Ashley gets real on her blog and opens up about topics that are close to her heart. Just by reading her blog you can definitely tell that spending time with God is important to her. I love that she is fearless in accepting her flaws and doesn't settle for anything less than what she deserves. Make sure to go say hello on her blog and follow her on social media!

How to Use Coupons to Save on Summer Beauty Essentials

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias #WalgreensPaperless

Growing up, I watched my mom spend countless hours clipping coupons to find the best deals on groceries, clothing, cleaning supplies, and our favorite health/beauty products. Shout out to the household CFO (hi, mom!) for teaching me the value of money and couponing. Now as a recent college grad, I can definitely appreciate saving a few dollars on anything and everything. Whether its using resources to save money while shopping online or clipping coupons to save money in the stores, my bank account definitely appreciates my efforts.

Recently, Walgreens released the paperless coupons section on their mobile app. What does this mean? It means spending less time clipping coupons while still saving money on all of my favorite summer beauty essentials! These paperless coupons are 'clipped' to your Walgreens Balance Rewards account and then redeemed when you purchase your products. You can simply scan your Balance Rewards Card at checkout (I scanned mine via the Walgreens App on my phone). I no longer have to spend quality time with my scissors and the weekly newspaper or worry about forgetting coupons at home!

During my most recent trip to Walgreens, I was able to save 22% using the Walgreens Paperless Coupons to stock up on summer beauty essentials. During the summer months, I don't want to have make up caked on my face everyday, especially if it's just going to melt off in the heat. My go-to products are Revlon's CC Cream, Pantene's Dry Shampoo, L'oreal's Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara, and brightly colored nail polish!

Revlon's CC Cream allows me to save time because it evens out my skin tone and while also protecting my skin from the sun's rays with SPF 30. I don't know about you, but my hair gets oily more quickly during the summer months. Pantene has created my favorite dry shampoo as it leaves my hair feeling fresh and clean with just a few squirts. L'oreal's Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara gives my lashes more volume and length, while also not worrying about getting raccoon eyes from sweat and impromptu water balloon fights and pool parties. Of course, brightly colored nails are always festive in the summer!

With these products, I'm ready for anything in just a few minutes. While I don't mind going barefaced in the summer heat, sometimes I just want to look a little more polished.

What are your summer beauty essentials? How do you save money?

Inside the Kate Spade NY Planner

If you know me, you know that I am nothing without my planner. I live for finding the perfect planner and writing in it for the first time. Just last year I shared a post on my five favorite planners, which included the beautiful Kate Spade planners. I'm so excited to finally have my hands on this gorgeous large Kate Spade planner in Painterly Cheetah print thanks to Lifeguard Press.

The exterior of the planner features a hardbound cover, which makes this great for tossing into my bag on the go! It's also 9"x7" so it's not too big or heavy to carry. I also love the elastic band closure which helps to keep papers and such tucked inside.

June Beauty Favorites

Sometimes, we get stuck in our own beauty ruts. Throughout college I always used the same make up and beauty products. When one product ran out, I just ran out and replaced it with the exact same item. Well, since this past semester, I've broken out of my shell in the beauty realm and my make up collection has nearly quadrupled. It's starting to get a bit out of hand so I may do a Pan 10 challenge where you pick 10 products and only use those until you hit the pan. While I haven't decided on whether to do that or not, I have been having a lot of fun trying out new products. Below are some of my beauty favorites that were added to the collection this past month.

#DarlingsPayItForward Recap

Thank you so much to everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday with #DarlingsPayItForward yesterday! I was overwhelmed by all of your sweet emails, texts, tweets, Facebook messages, everything! Unfortunately, my phone shut down halfway through the day so I wasn't able to update you on everything that I was doing to pay it forward so I'm just going to give a huge recap post of everything that went down yesterday.

I LOVED reading these ladies blog posts about how they pay it forward. HUGE thank you to them for their support and participation! Please please please go check out their blogs! The bloggers:

Classy Cathleen - Cathleen shared a sweet story on how her family pays it forward to the Disney cast and Disney visitors while they vacation at Disney World.

From Mississippi With Love - Hill is my awesome Blog Little. She was inspired by the events and incorporated kindness into her July goals.

Becoming Adorrable - Didn't know what to do yesterday to pay it forward? Becca has you covered with 10 great, simple, and affordable ideas to pay it forward!

Elegance and Mommyhood - Ada volunteered her time to work with children with Downs Syndrome in Albania!

It was amazing to go on Twitter and Facebook to check the hashtag updates and see what you were up to! I loved reading each person's story. You are all so inspiring and I am so appreciative of your support yesterday. I am absolutely positive that the lives affected by our kindness were appreciative as well. Thank you for making a difference yesterday!

Biological Dad

Hillary, the director of Miss Greater Columbus, formerly Miss Hilliard

Kendy, a Miss Greater Columbus Volunteer

Stephanie, the blogger at Diary of a Debutante

Chloe, the blogger at Wanderlust in the Midwest

Melissa, the blogger at Daily Chaos

Hill, the blogger at From Mississippi With Love

Now you're probably wondering what I did! While I wasn't able to reach my goal of completing 23 acts of kindness on my birthday, I was able to complete 8! I'm not going to give up on my goal so I will update this list once I complete the other 15 tasks!

1. To kick off my birthday I delivered cupcakes around campus. Who doesn't love cupcakes?! How can you not be instantly cheered up when sinking your teeth into a delicious, moist cupcakes (and at only 30 calories, that smile should have just got bigger)!?

2. After eating lunch at Olive Garden, Christian drove me over to the local mall. I picked up a few items for my Inspire Swap buddy and then left quarters in the candy machines! I know some kid is going to be ecstatic when they realize they don't have to ask mom for change!

3. Left a 100% tip for the waitress at the local A&W Drive In.

4. Gave quick Twitter advice to a few bloggers! If you sharing someone's post (like your blog sponsors, for instance),  I always try to make sure I don't start the tweet with the person's Twitter handle. If I absolutely must, then I put a period before the @ symbol. This allows for all of your followers to see your tweet. If you just start with the Twitter handle, only those followers who follow both you and the person you're tweeting at will see the tweet.

5. I smiled at literally everyone!

6. I sent a handwritten letter to a friend! I LOVE snail mail so if you want a letter from me, just send me an email with the address to send the letter! (darlingprepster@gmail.com)

7. Called an old friend on the phone. It was awesome to reconnect!

8. This was my favorite act of kindness! I walked to the local library and picked out a children's book and left a dollar inside. I hope this will encourage kids to keep on reading!

Have you ever paid it forward or been blessed with someone else's act of kindness? I would love to hear your story! Feel free to leave it in the comments below or email me at darlingprepster@gmail.com!

With Love,
Ashliegh
