Wednesday Confessions (+Giveaway)

…I normally don't do these sorts of posts, as you probably know but today I wanted to do something different. A few of these bullet points may be a bit heavy, especially considering I don't like to open up about this kind of stuff on the blog. Here goes nothing I guess...

…I've been binge watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix and just found out the 9th season isn't on there. I WANT TO MEET THE MOTHER, NETFLIX. I'M DYING OVER HERE.

…Amiee's wedding was a dry wedding. But not for me! I made sure to bring this nifty little do-dad called a flask. I also kept a bottle of whiskey out in the truck. Just imagine this: the mother of the bride, the bride, and me taking shots straight from the handle on the bed of a truck. I can't make this stuff up.

…This weekend was Amiee and Brittney's weddings, but you already know that. What you don't know is that I also experienced my first funeral of my lovely great aunt. I'm not entirely sure how I'm supposed to deal with death yet and I'm kinda freaking out.

…To make matters worse (though better for the future?), Christian and I also broke up. After 2.5 years together, I definitely learned a lot from him and about relationships. It was a mutual and calm break up but it's hard to deal with not seeing my (former) best friend everyday.

…I purchased the most adorable short suit and cannot wait for the pictures to be live on the blog tomorrow!

…I'm meeting Chloe, one of my blogging besties, today!

…I'm moving back home for the first time in 5 years. I'm completely terrified as I don't have any friends in my hometown anymore.

…Also, not entirely sure what I'm doing with my life. I really want to travel so I'm looking for jobs in Australia or even au pairing in Europe. The only thing holding me back is money and the fact that student loan payments are coming up in November. Do I follow my dreams and travel the world making minimal money or start my career and pay off my loans with the dream of living abroad never to be heard of again? Advice welcome on traveling/living abroad with no money and paying off student loans...

…I'm feeling quite uninspired to write right now. I have a bajillion and one blog topics listed out on paper but I don't feel like writing about any of them right now. Here's an awesome Lilly Pulitzer giveaway that Dylan and I teamed up to bring you! Enter to win a Lilly Pulitzer planner and stationary set in the Rafflecopter below.

…Yes, this post is completely random and all over the board. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings!

With Love,
Ashliegh

  2. Wow! What an emotional couple of days, the whiskey seems to have been appropriate! I'm sorry to hear about your aunt and your break-up.When I broke up with my boyfriend of 2.5 years I had a similar problem, it's hard to stop talking to someone you were so close to! This is a great post, and I know from experience that inspiration will come to you if you take a couple deep breaths and don't force it!
If you need anything let me know! Sending prayers your way!

  6. I know a girl who spent a year working as a nanny in Australia in between undergrad and med school. I remember she said it was a lot easier to find jobs down there, especially because she only spoke English. It seems like you have a ton on your plate and are probably a little overwhelmed, but I know everything will work out. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way!
Also I'd love to win this giveaway because I'm southern and therefore in love with all things Lilly

  10. So sorry to hear about your great aunt & your breakup! As far as the breakup goes, I've learned that everything happens for a reason. I've always dreamed of traveling the world, but I too have student loans and decided to go the route of starting my career in hopes of paying off those loans and being able to take vacations in the future. I may not get to spend months traveling, but a 1 or 2 week vacation at least once a year is honestly enough for me. :) Do what's best for you though - only you can answer that! Sending lots of hugs & positive thoughts your way!

  12. I've always wanted to flask it at a dry wedding! But usually the dry ones are family and they are anti-booze!

  13. Okay, lots of things...

    1. I'm SO glad I finally got to meet you! I had such a great time!
    2. I no longer have friends in my hometown, either. It's difficult but with your determination, you'll end up abroad sooner than later. :)
    3. I'm so sorry to hear about your great aunt. Funerals are difficult enough on their own, especially when mixed with a happy event. Emotions go blurred and crazy.
    4. ...on that note, LOL at the flasks, I love it!
    5. For student loans, you can do income-based payments while you're abroad (at least with my loan servicer, assuming with others). Your income is $X/month? You'll barely get charged. You can also defer payments I think...there are lots of options, more than I realized. Beyond grace period, loan servicers realize that not everyone is able to pay much, if at all.

Stay beautiful and keep your head up, darling! And I'm really hoping you take an au pair job in Europe so we can play there. :) If Ohio gets to be too much, you're always welcome to take a mini road trip to Michigan for a few days!

  18. First off, I love your blog! Ok, so when I was in college, I had the opportunity to study aboard my junior year. The school had a great program for being such a small school. A lot of my friends after school actually applied for the peace corps instead of the nanny/au pair thing. If accepted then they will forgive some of your student debt on government loans. I even looked into it, but can't decide. And I have what Chloe suggested with the income based pay.
