How to Make: Gold Striped Glasses

As you might know, both of my little sisters are getting married soon. Well, soon is this weekend. Amiee's wedding is on Saturday and Brittney's wedding is on Monday. With the upcoming nuptials comes the traditional bridal showers and bachelorette parties. Brittney is opting out of having bridesmaids and since I am an awesome big sister, I made myself the unofficial maid of honor and planned her bachelorette party and bridal shower last weekend. Fun was had by all with laser tag, girlfriend time, and lots of my special bridal shower punch (no worries, it was non-alcoholic). To prepare, I crafted these gorgeous gold striped glasses. They were super easy to create so I figured I would share this DIY with you!

What you'll need:
Clear Glasses
Painter's Tape
Gold Spray Paint

Step One: Purchase however many clear glasses that you want! I found these gold rimmed glasses at the dollar store for $1 each! Make sure to thoroughly wash them before you begin this project!

Step Two: Create the stripes using the Painter's Tape. Make sure to secure the tape tightly and use a coin to press down the edges. I did both horizontal and vertical stripes. If I could go back and do it all over again, they would all be horizontal stripes.

Step Three: Take your tape-covered glasses outside. Holding the spray paint about 12 inches away from a glass, cover the glass evenly with the paint. Allow to dry. If you see any bare patches, repeat step 3.

Step Four: Once glasses are completely dry, remove the tape. Place glasses on a cookie sheet and place in a cold oven. Heat oven to 250 degrees. Once heated, leave glasses in the oven for 5 minutes then turn oven off (leave glasses in the oven!). Once the oven is completely cooled down, remove the glasses and enjoy your beautiful work of art!

  6. Cute! I have to agree that I like the horizontal stripes much better. I would imagine it doesn't feel to great on your mouth to put it against the painted stripe.
