Since I received a natural eyeshadow palette for my birthday, I've really felt the need to add more natural eyeshadow palettes to my collection as well. Unfortunately, they can be pretty costly and don't fit into my post-grad budget. You can imagine my excitement when Maybelline released their new The Nudes palette! I've been wanting to create some fun makeup tutorials for this blog so I immediately ran to my local Walgreens to pick up the palette and a few other beauty must haves (hello, Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains!).
In college I loved going out on the weekends with my girlfriends. It was the perfect opportunity to get dolled up and do some serious gabbing with my sorority sisters. My go-to look for girls night out was (and still is) a bronze smokey eye and a bold lip color. The Nudes palette features 12 gorgeous shades that are perfect for creating a smokey eye or a more natural look. It's very versatile and I'm blown away by the quality of this drugstore find. Also, if you haven't tried Revlon's Colorstay Moisture Stains yet, what are you waiting for?! These beauties are packed with pigment, go on so smooth, and last for hours. I would say these are the manna of the drugstore beauty market! I was able to get a deep discount on mine when I found a coupon on my Walgreens Paperless Coupon app!
I'm a big fan of contouring and highlighting. It just adds that little bit of polish to a look and brights out my best features. I apply Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Spot Eraser as a highlighter creating triangles along my nose and up to my eyes. I also apply it to the top of my nose and up to my forehead (it kinda looks like a tree). I also dab some on my chin and cupid's bow.
I apply NYC Sun 2 Sun Bronzing Powder along the edge of my forehead, under my cheekbones, and along my jawline. This creates a 3 shape. I have a fairly large nose so to make it appear leaner, I also apply bronzer on the sides of my nose. Once the highlighter and bronzer is applied, blend, blend, and blend some more! Once it's all blended in, I apply Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint in Sunkissed Cherry to my cheeks for a pretty flush that will last all night.
Now let's move on to the eyes. Apologies in advance for the creepy close ups of my eyes.
To frame my eyes, I use Ofra Eyebrow Pencil in Universal to fill in my scarce eyebrows. I'm a big believer in filling in my eyebrows and it's the one thing I will always do before I leave the house. Forget the rest of the makeup. If there's one makeup trick you absolutely need to learn it's filling in your eyebrows. Last word on eyebrows: they should be sisters, not identical twins!
Finally, we get to break into The Nudes palette. I apply #1 (it's an iridescent white color) to my inner tear ducts and brow bone. Then, I apply #2 (matte taupe color) to my entire eyelid. #4 (a shimmery bronze color) is then applied in a windshield motion in the crease. I then applied #10 (darker shimmery bronze color) to just the outside corner of my eye and #9 (shimmery gold color) to just the center of my eyelid. Once all the eyeshadow is on, blend it all in! I used a thin brush to apply #12 (matte black) along my lower lash line. I used the edge of an eyeshadow applicator to smoke it out a bit.
To finish the eye look I applied Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Eye Liner along the top lash line and 2 coats of Maybelline Colossal Volum Express to my lashes. Look at those pretty peepers!
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Rio Rush applied to my lips completes the whole look. Who's ready for a girls night out?!
