Big Beautiful Hair Part 1: Caring For Your Tresses

As a pageant contestant, I believe there is nothing better than big, beautiful hair! I love lots of volume, and I mean lots. As they say, the bigger the hair the closer to heaven! With all the teasing, curling, and flatiron-ing I do to my hair, I know that having big, beautiful hair starts with how you care for your tresses.

Just like with my skincare regimen, using the right products can help my hair grow long and strong, while keeping those yucky split-ends away! Hask recently sent me their Argan Oil and Keratin Protein lines and they have completely transformed my hair along with these tips to care for hair, whether you're rocking a pixie cut or growing it long!

1. Only apply shampoo to scalp and roots. Do not pile all your hair on top of your head to shampoo it! By only applying the shampoo at the roots, this will allow the soap to run throughout the rest of the hair when rinsing. This will also cause less damage to your hair and less tangles later!

Since Hask sent me both the Argan Oil and Keratin Protein sets, I use both products every other shower (argan oil set for one shower, then the keratin protein set for the next shower). The argan oil is suposed to strengthen and restore while the keratin protein softens and renews. I've been using these products for about a month now and using both of these products has helped my hair immensely. It looks and feels healthier and I have noticed a considerable less amount of spilt-ends. The products also smell delicious! They have a fresh and fruity scent that I just love - especially the argan oil line!

2. Condition only the ends of your hair! Don't put that stuff anywhere near your roots! If you want volumous hair, apply conditioner only to your ends. If you apply conditioner to all of your hair, you risk having greasy roots and your hair will be weighed down. Personally, I only condition my hair only 3 times a week to prevent my hair from being weighed down.

3. Leave conditioner on your hair for at least 5 minutes. When I do condition my hair, I leave it on for a while. Right after shampooing, I apply conditioner and put my hair up in an elastic hair tie. I let the conditioner set in my hair until the end of my shower.

My favorite of the products Hask sent were the deep conditioning treatments. These are literally miracle makers! My hair goes from dry, dull, and lifeless to healthy and bouncy after using these! They definitely do their job of strengthening and smoothing the hair!

Overall, I really fell in love with these haircare products and plan to continue using them! You can purchase these products on Amazon!

What products do you use to care for your beautiful tresses?

Ashliegh

  1. I love John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Lightening Spray. You spritz it on damp hair and then blow dry and it works like a charm. It's great for touching up roots or evening out color when your light summer hair is starting to grow in darker in fall. It's only about $7 a bottle, and I use it about once a week or less to brighten. It's a good alternative to dying your hair the traditional way if you have light hair and just want it lighter and brighter.

  2. I swear by argan oil! :) I've never conditioned my roots simply because my hair gets greasy very easily, but I didn't know that about shampooing just the roots--I'll try it tomorrow! I like to put something in my hair after my shower, too--right now I'm using the Beauty Protector Protect & Oil serum (holla at Birchbox). Admittedly, I need to condition my hair way more. I'm so busy that I want to get out of the shower ASAP and conditioning makes it last longer!
