Spring Trend: Soft Pants

Tank Top: Borrowed // Pants: Macy's // Sunglasses, Scarf, Sandals: Old
Make Up:
Foundation: Rimmel London Stay Matte c/o Influenster // Blush: E.L.F. // Lipstick: NYC Expert Last Lipstick in Flirty c/o Influenster

I'm not one to try new trends very often as I typically stick to my simple, girly style. When I was offered the opportunity to blog as part of the #MacysCampusTour, I knew I wanted one of the pieces I picked out to be something trendy and outside my comfort zone. Alas, I chose the XOXO High-Waisted Tapered Pants and didn't look back.

These pants are so comfy. I never wear yoga pants or sweatpants around campus but these may as well be my own version of comfort wear! The great thing about these pants is that while they are super soft and comfortable, they are also very chic. Paired with wedges, these high-waisted pants make my legs look extra long.

While this is totally out of my style element,  I definitely feel fierce rocking this trend around campus.

What trends have you tried recently?

Spring Wish List

While it doesn't look like it quite yet here in Ohio, spring is in the air! I am ready to rock my sundresses around campus and enjoy warmer weather! Macy's recently released their 2014 Spring Trend Report and I am in love with everything featured! The items in their Mstyle Lab section are so adorable and I want need these items in my closet, like yesterday. As part of the #MacysCampusTour, I put together my spring wish list.

Bows and neutrals are definitely on my mind this spring season! How stinkin' adorable are these bow sandals!? They come in many different colors but this light pink shade is my favorite! And of course, who doesn't like the classic Kate Spade bow bracelets? To round out my love for all things pretty and neutral, this bag would be gorgeous to carry around!

As I said, I cannot wait to rock my sundresses around campus! This chevron maxi dress looks so comfy chic! I definitely see myself wearing this while studying out on the quad! The navy and white striped dress would be perfect for Easter dinner with my family!

What fashion trends are catching your eye this spring? What's on your wish list?

Friday Five

This week was crazy busy with a to-do list 100 miles long. While it was stressful, it definitely had its highlights that reminded me of how blessed I am. Here's five highlights from this past week...

1. Christian and I celebrated our two year (dating) anniversary! While we haven't been able to really celebrate with a dinner date like we had planned, I did make him his movie ticket stub gift. For some reason, I've been saving all the ticket stubs fro the movies we've seen for the past two years. I figured it was time to do something with them so I pasted them down on a piece of scrapbook paper in the shape of a heart. Christian loved it because it was creative and unexpected.

2. Wednesday evening was dedicated to pageantry...male pageantry that is! Every year, my sorority puts on Mr. University as a fundraiser for the Alpha Phi Foundation and women's cardiac care. This year, I was honored to be an MC during the show! I had a blast with not only the speaking part, but also live tweeting at the event! We  had 16 contestants who were nominated to compete by various organization around campus. In the end, Mr. Theta Phi Alpha won the crown!

2. As a member of the Her Campus Blogger Network, I received the Her Campus Spring Break Survival Kit packed with all kinds of goodies from the HerCampus sponsors! I received coupons for a free burrito and chips from Chipotle (hello, lunch!), Her Campus swag, TreSemme Keratin Smooth kit samples, Biotera conditioner samples, coupons for European Wax and Yokini Swimwear, and FORTY-EIGHT bottles of Neuro Sleep. Talk about best day ever!

3. In my spare time, I've been working on this Dr. Seuss "The Lorax" canvas for my roommate's classroom! When she requested a Dr. Seuss themed canvas, I was a bit nervous to accept the challenge but am so glad I did! The canvas was finally finished last night and I seriously cannot believe I painted this. By myself. #What. It's amazing what we can do and accomplish when we step outside our comfort zones!

If you're interested in having a canvas designed, email me at! The proceeds from all orders through my Etsy Shop will be donated to my Children's Miracle Network fund!

4. Last week Katie from Keep Calm & Carry On held a giveaway for tickets to see Jillian Michaels Maximize Your Life Tour in Columbus. By some miracle, I won and, no lies, I cried when I received her email! #ThatsEmbarrassing. I've always looked up to Jillian Michaels and LOVE her 30 Day Shred workout videos. Jillian gave a great presentation on health, fitness, and motivation. I was surprised at how funny she was, and while she did curse throughout the show, she was very relatable. With graduation around the corner (and my last qualifier pageant for Miss Ohio tomorrow!), this event couldn't have came at a better time. Jillian really got me thinking about doing what I'm passionate about and figuring out my "why". Not just the surface "why" (example: I want to be healthy.) but the real why that you find when you dig deep into your soul (example: I want to be healthy because I want to be able to meet my grandchildren).

Overall, while it was a stressful week, it definitely had its moments that made me realize how blessed I am.

What are your highlights for this past week?

What to Wear: Sorority Formal

Sorority Formal is a month away, and sadly, this is my last formal. Let's not talk about how old I am that right now though. I'm not ready to think about how much I'll be crying that night (it's my last, meaning theirs lots of emotional senior send-off traditions at the event).

Let's talk about the fact that I still don't have a dress for the occasion!

Thankfully, Macy's MStyle Lab always has my back. I bought my semi-formal dress from Macy's last semester so I know I can trust them to have stylish dresses for my sorority's senior formal. After browsing through the Macy's app, as part of the #MacysCampusTour campaign, on my iPhone, I found these three dresses that I am absolutely in love with!

Shoes: Silver // Nude // Gold

If you haven't heard yet, radiant orchid is the Pantone color of the year for 2014 which means purple is hot, hot, hot right now! I really love how simple this purple chiffon dress is yet it has a touch of glamour with the rhinestoned straps. I would pair this dress with silver foiled heels. I almost went for a pair of sparkly glitter heels but thought that would be too high school prom. For sorority formal, the silver foil is a more mature/collegiate look.

I think this middle look is my favorite of the three. I can definitely see myself wearing this pretty light pink dress. The only problem: I'm paler than a ghost! Perhaps after using my Jergan's sunless tanning lotion, I could pull this look off without looking washed out. I would wear nude heels with this dress to make my legs look extra long.

How can any sorority girl resist a dress with a big bow on it?! This red bow dress is absolutely adorable, though maybe a bit young for me. If I chose this dress, I would pair it with gold foil heels and accessories to give it some edge.

Which dress do you think I should wear for senior formal?

Necklace: c/o Majestical Jewelry

There's not much that I love more than statement jewelry. Dark chocolate, pizza, shoes, my sorority...ok, a lot of things. But that's beside the point. Recently, Majestical Jewelry sent me the Black Floral Necklace. I never got into the bauble necklace trend but I really like how different this one looks.

Majestical Jewelry hopes to make every woman feel, well, majestical! They offer good quality fashion jewelry for affordable prices. Since recently getting my ears pierced, I've really taken a liking to their earring selection! They have some gorgeous and definitely affordable pieces. Here are some of my favorite pieces from their online store.

They also offer free shipping on order of $49 or more and you can use code 15DOLALRSOFF on order $55 or more.

What's your favorite type of jewelry? What is your favorite piece from Majestical Jewelry?

Winter to Spring Transitions: White Skinny Jeans

You know the rule, "you can't wear white after Labor Day and before Easter"? Well, throw that rule away! White can be worn wherever, whenever, even in-between the two holidays. After receiving my new Celebrity Pink White Wash Skinny Jeans as part of the #MacysCampusTour campaign, there was no way I was going to wait until after Easter to wear these crisp white pants! Transition your white skinny jeans from winter to spring with Macy's MStyle Lab

Wearing white looks beautiful surrounded by snow in the winter months! Pair you white skinny jeans with other winter staples like riding boots and a colorful quilted vest! While everyone else is wearing dark colors during these cold months, you'll look bright and chic!

Shirt: JCrew Factory // Vest: Old Navy (sold out) // Jacket: Wilson's Leather (Gift) // Jeans: Macy's // Boots: Shoedazzle

Roll up the hems of your white jeans and show off your pretty pedicure! Now that the snow is all melted (hopefully for good until next year!), you can trade your boots for sandals and the vest for colorful jewelry!

Shirt: JCrew Factory // Jeans: Macy's // Sandals: Old // Belt: Old // Necklace: Macy's

Don't forget to download the Macy's app for your chance to win prizes during the Spin & Win Sweepstakes! Enter to win now through March 31st, 2014!

What pieces are you transitioning from winter to spring? How would you style white skinny jeans?

Big Beautiful Hair Part 1: Caring For Your Tresses

As a pageant contestant, I believe there is nothing better than big, beautiful hair! I love lots of volume, and I mean lots. As they say, the bigger the hair the closer to heaven! With all the teasing, curling, and flatiron-ing I do to my hair, I know that having big, beautiful hair starts with how you care for your tresses.

Just like with my skincare regimen, using the right products can help my hair grow long and strong, while keeping those yucky split-ends away! Hask recently sent me their Argan Oil and Keratin Protein lines and they have completely transformed my hair along with these tips to care for hair, whether you're rocking a pixie cut or growing it long!

1. Only apply shampoo to scalp and roots. Do not pile all your hair on top of your head to shampoo it! By only applying the shampoo at the roots, this will allow the soap to run throughout the rest of the hair when rinsing. This will also cause less damage to your hair and less tangles later!

Since Hask sent me both the Argan Oil and Keratin Protein sets, I use both products every other shower (argan oil set for one shower, then the keratin protein set for the next shower). The argan oil is suposed to strengthen and restore while the keratin protein softens and renews. I've been using these products for about a month now and using both of these products has helped my hair immensely. It looks and feels healthier and I have noticed a considerable less amount of spilt-ends. The products also smell delicious! They have a fresh and fruity scent that I just love - especially the argan oil line!

2. Condition only the ends of your hair! Don't put that stuff anywhere near your roots! If you want volumous hair, apply conditioner only to your ends. If you apply conditioner to all of your hair, you risk having greasy roots and your hair will be weighed down. Personally, I only condition my hair only 3 times a week to prevent my hair from being weighed down.

3. Leave conditioner on your hair for at least 5 minutes. When I do condition my hair, I leave it on for a while. Right after shampooing, I apply conditioner and put my hair up in an elastic hair tie. I let the conditioner set in my hair until the end of my shower.

My favorite of the products Hask sent were the deep conditioning treatments. These are literally miracle makers! My hair goes from dry, dull, and lifeless to healthy and bouncy after using these! They definitely do their job of strengthening and smoothing the hair!

Overall, I really fell in love with these haircare products and plan to continue using them! You can purchase these products on Amazon!

What products do you use to care for your beautiful tresses?

With Love,

Time Management Tips for the Procrastinating Collegiate

Recently, a lovely reader emailed me asking for tips on time management in college. I chuckled at first because I'm infamously known amongst my group of friends to be a procrastinator; however, I always get work done. Personally, I believe how we manage our time is going to differ from person to person. What works for me, might not work for you. I'm definitely not Type A and I don't have OCD tendencies.

Last semester I took 21 credit hours, had an internship, and also kept this blog here up to date. This semester, I'm a bit overwhelmed with 24 credit hours, 2 part-time jobs, and also, this blog which I see as another part-time job, more on that in a future post. Obviously, I'm a busy person so I figured I would share a few of my time management tips, from a procrastinator for a procrastinator.

Macy's Must Haves

If you've been around the blog for a while, you know that most of the pieces in my closet are from Macy's!  My favorite section of the store is the MStyleLab, which is their specialty section for millenials. You bet I jumped at the opportunity to partner up for the #MacysCampusTour campaign!

I've been on the road a lot recently so stopping by my local Macy's was out of the question. Fortunately, they have this awesome app that you can shop from with an amazing MStyleLab section! Shopping from the app was easy and you get all the same discounts, if not more! With the generous gift card Macy's sent me, I was able to get five items that I've had my eyes on!

This is actually my second pair of the Celebrity Pink Skinny Jeans in Black Wash! I had purchased my first pair of these jeans back in August for sorority recruitment Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I slid on some ice on campus and ripped a hole in the knee of the jeans. Since they were my favorite, purchasing a second pair was a no-brainer!

Since I loved the black wash jeans so much, I have also been craving a pair of Skinny Jeans in White Wash by the same brand. I love the fit and style of the Celebrity Pink denim and white jeans are so versatile! I don't follow the "no white after labor day/before memorial day" rule so I know I can rock these with my riding boots in the fall/winter or a cute pair of wedges in the spring!

When I saw the Planet Gold Striped Dress in Green/Gray I knew love at first sight was real. A lot of my dresses are business casual and dressy. I have been craving a dress to just relax in and this is it! Perfect for springtime on campus.

My style is more classic girly and I'm drawn to timeless pieces. These XOXO High Waist Tapered Pants in Navy are definitely the opposite! They scream fierce and trendy! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time to try them out!

With my sister getting married this summer, I knew I would need a dress for the bridal shower and various other wedding affairs. The As You Wish Strapless Striped Dress will be the perfect dress for the shower and perhaps even double as my graduation dress!

As I said, I bought all of this from the Macy's app on my iPhone! By downloading the app anytime in March, you could win instantly! Everyone's a winner as everyone who participates will automatically receive a 20% off coupon.

You can download the app through your Google Play or IOS Apple Store. After opening the app on your phone, click on the link to the spin & win game! You can play up to 5 times per day beginning on March 5th and ending on March 30th, 2014.

Do you shop at Macy's? What's on your wish list?!

Spring Trend: Sweet Sophistication

Dress: Loft // Heels: ShoeDazzle // Earrings: BaubleBar // Bag: Forever21

While it's still snowing, warm weather seems far off in the distance. I have serious spring fever. I just want to bring out my pretty sundresses (including this gorgeous Scallop Bodice Dress by Loft) and wear capris and wedges!

It looks like vintage pink, mint green, and nude are are going strong this season. I have a feeling pale blue will also be a hot color with Frozen still trending and, of course, Lupita Nyguno's beautiful gown at the Oscars last night!

While I don't own the Loft Scallop Bodice Dress yet (get in my closet, please), I am awaiting the day I find the dress on sale. The scallop details are so sweet! I would definitely pair this dress with an elegant mint cross-body bag. The Judith pump from ShoeDazzle are ladylike enough to go nicely with the dress, while the color gives you the look of a longer leg, yet the cutouts give you just a hint of edge. These statement earrings tie the look together.

With Love,
