Braving The Cold

It has been beyond freezing lately! Braving these cold temperatures while still looking cute is so easy feat! I love layering sweaters over oxford button ups! It's a stylish way to stay warm in these winter months. I actually do not own any dress pants (why is it so hard to find a pair that fits right!?) so a pencil skirt paired with tights and boots completed the look. I wore this outfit to a recent sorority chapter meeting!

A Look Inside: My Bedroom

After doing some early spring cleaning (what else are you supposed to do when trapped inside by the cold weather?) I thought it was high time I finally show you around my apartment, starting with my bedroom. While I really wanted a black/white/gold/pink theme, my bedroom is basically just white walls and tan furniture. There's not a whole lot going on in the decor but for a college apartment, I'm afraid I lack the funds and interior design skills. Once I get a "big girl job" and have a salary to decorate with, maybe then I'll have my pink/black/white/gold bedroom.

This weekend I'll be participating in the Blogger Breakfast in Bed event put together by Prep In Your Step! She put together a series of questions for all the participants to answer. I also want to open the floor to you to ask any questions for Saturday's post! Seriously, ask me anything about me, blogging, college, sorority life, fashion, beauty-related whatever! Leave your questions in the comments or email me at!

This is my bed, obviously. I love traveling so I surrounded this area with panoramic photos of London and Paris. The bedside table is actually a decorative suitcase with stickers from all over the world. I always find myself thirsty before I go to bed and when I wake up so I always have a water bottle (or two) on the "table."

Here is where I get ready every morning. The top drawer of the dresser is dedicated to make up and hair stuff galore! While I do not claim to be an organized person (having a planner and editorial calendar is about as far as that goes) I do keep my lip glosses and lipsticks separate from the rest of the make up. The teacup was given to me by Christian's mom. Isn't it the cutest teacup ever!?

These little nooks are all over the house! I think they are the most charming detail of the house. I was not quite sure what to display in the one in my room at first but then decided it would be the perfect place to showcase my growing nail polish collection! Rachael and I made these glitter champagne flutes a while ago. The candle is from my post-lavaliere candle-lighting ceremony (I'm a Phi Kappa Psi Sweetheart. I don't know if I've said that on this blog previously...).

Finally, my closet. The left side holds coats, blazers, skirts, and pants. The right side holds button-ups, blouses, and cardigans. I also keep my jewelry in a hanging jewelry organizer that I found at Marshall's and extra make up and beauty products hang in a Mary Kay Travel Roll Up bag.

There's my bedroom in a nutshell! I'm not going to lie to you, this is the cleanest I've ever seen it. Organization is just not my thing outside keeping a planner and editorial calendar. Check out the behind the scenes on instagram! Just wait until you see my "office." Oy.

Any advice on jazzing the space up a bit?

Girl, Where's My Phone?!

Hi! I'm Tori & I blog over at A Little Leigh Way

I'm so excited to take over Ashliegh's blog today! When I first started reading The Darling Prepster, I was drawn to Ashliegh's adorable "About Me" page. When I got to the bottom of her "5 Fun Facts"  I knew it was meant to be as Ashliegh is notorious for misplacing her phone

My roommate in college, Gina, once told me that if anyone was to make my life into a movie, it would be called "Gina, Where's My Phone?"

Also, who let me out of the house with hoop earrings in?

This is still 100% true. I'm usually able to recover it within the hour after I remember that I put it on the shelf in the pantry during an intense game of candy crush in order to make a sandwich. That or I call it 700 times and finally hear it ringing inside my sock drawer.

Overall though, I have been SUPER lucky with not losing it permanently or damaging it. Clearly, someone was watching over me last summer when my boyfriend and I decided to head over to a friend's house with a quick stop at a liquor store on the way. Somewhere in the hustle and bustle of moving items from my car to his, I misplaced my phone. I realized this a few minutes into our drive and started to call it repeatedly. Once we heard it buzzing we knew it had to be in the car and relaxed.

We decided not to take the highway, but instead this very windy / bumpy road that runs parallel to it as there is generally less traffic. Once we were at a red light, I started to call the phone again so I could move around and search a bit. At this point the people behind us start honking FURIOUSLY. We became SUPER annoyed and mumbled a few curse words about how we hate Jersey drivers. The whole drive we were convinced every jerk in New Jersey was on the roads that day, honking and waving their hands at us for no apparent reason.

I had no luck finding my phone but could still hear it buzzing so I figured it probably fell under the seat of the car. We finally pulled into the liquor store parking lot, about ten miles from my home, and began to search the car for my phone. I still couldn't find it anywhere and the buzzing didn't seem to get any closer. Finally, we get out of the car and start to head into the store when I see my phone.

On the trunk of the car.

This thing made it through ten miles of pot holes, curves & sudden stops on the trunk of a car. Obviously other drivers were trying to alert us but we were both too hard-headed to see it. I still owe Hyundai a thank you letter for their flawless trunk design.

Also, I used to have a picture of where we found it on my boyfriend's phone, but he recently dropped his cell phone in the toilet. If anyone offers a parenting course for technology, I'd take it.

When I am in possession of my phone, I'll hang out with you here:

Trending: Black Bows

Is it just me or are black bows popping up everywhere right now?! From every fashion blogger (except me, sad face) wearing the adorable H&M dress to the black bow bag showing up in my ShoeDazzle Boutique, black bows are definitely trending and I hope they're here to stay!

What do you think of this trend, Darlings?

Dress: H&M (on sale for $15 right now!)
Earrings: Forever 21
Bracelet: Benevolent Jewels (use code AJCODE20 for 20% off your order!)
Black Bag: ShoeDazzle

This past week was crazy! It was the first full week of classes and I'm already stressed out. I'm taking 24 credit hours this semester because really want to need to graduate on time (please no more student loan debt). I somehow managed to have a pretty awesome schedule despite all the classes. I only have classes on Monday night (boo, cuts into my Bachelor time), all day Tuesday (all day meaning 9 am to 9 pm), and Thursday. This semester I'm taking:

Ecology (boo...)
American Literature (ehh, ok.)
Statistics (SAVE ME.)
Intro to PR (yay!)
Business Communication (ok, yay!)
Risk & Crisis Communication (*scratches head*)
Business Ethics & Responsibility (*continues to scratch head*)
Social Media Marketing (OMG YAY!)

What classes are you taking this semester?

All Aboard the Norwegian Dawn: Cruise Vacation Recap!

About a month ago I shared my packing list for a cruise vacation. Right after finals week ended, three sorority sisters and I  set sail on the Norwegian Dawn to the Western Caribbean! We visited Roatan Island, Belize City, Costa Maya and Cozumel. We kareoke'd, taught everyone on the ship how to do the Wobble, had fabulous cocktails served in pineapples, danced a lot, made new friends, and pretty much became cast members for the performance crew. I would say it was a pretty successful you might be able to tell from the following photos!

It rained all day while we were at the Roatan Islands, Honduras port-of-call. The beautiful Christmas decorations kept things very festive while we appreciated since our trip was right before Christmas!

While we were dipping out toes into the ocean, a little old lady who was on our ship asked if she could take a picture of us with our umbrellas and toes in the ocean. So we also had her take a shot on our camera, too! How adorable is this photo?! This photo is probably hanging in that little old lady's beach-themed bathroom now...

We did our one excursion while we were in Costa Maya. We visited the beautiful Maya Chan Beach. It's pretty exclusive (they only take 40 people max) and not many people know about it! Before the trip, I did some research and discovered Maya Chan after reading about it on the Cruise Critic message boards. If you are planning a cruise or going on one soon, I highly recommend you check out the message boards! So helpful!

Anyways, Maya Chan is the best place on earth! I paid $75 for this excursion and got a 30 minute full body massage, a delicious lunch (I still dream about the sea bass and guacamole...), cabanas for each group, kayaking, snorkeling, floating chairs and wait for it...unlimited drinks (when on vacation, do as vacationers do)! It was glorious and the staff was amazing and so hospitable. As in, while we were floating out at sea in the floating chairs, the bartender kayaked out to us with drinks. Best day ever.

At the end of the day, we tried to take a picture of the four of us and it took about twenty shots (of the camera sort...) to get this one.

Because you can only take photos like this while in Mexico...

The ship's White Hot Party was pretty fun! There weren't many young people (as in 18-26 year olds) on the boat and I feel like the ships programming was geared to more families and older adults. We made the best of it though!

Earlier in the week I participated in the ship's Dancing With The Dawn Stars competition and placed second. My partner was Kevin, a dancer and aerialist on the production cast. Well we became friends with him, his boyfriend, and the comedy show cast and they invited us to a place called No Name Bar, apparently the cast only knows about it. It was beautiful! There was clear ocean, drinks the size of your head (#WelcomeToMexico), a pool, it just made for a great afternoon.

This post wouldn't be compete without some OOTD's from the cruise!

 With Love,

P.S. I have a super exciting announcement! Are you a blogger and a fan of "The Bachelor"? Every Tuesday, Rachael and I will be hosting a Bachelor link up! Starting tomorrow, swing by this little blog of mine to link up your reviews, recaps, outfit inspirations and any post Bachelor-related! Can't wait to read your post tomorrow!

The Very Last First Day of School!

An awful picture, I know. Ya'll want to see more OOTD's this year so this will do until I get a better camera than my iPhone!
Scarf: Amazon
Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger (on sale now for $17.99!)
Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: ShoeDazzle
Bow Bracelet: Oh So Bow Bracelets
Chain Bracelet: Armed & Readi c/o

I can't believe today was my very last first day of school! College has been a crazy, stressful, and yet fun four years. It's wild to think that I will be graduating in 16 weeks. Uhh, what?

You know those silly introduction exercises that professors have you do on the first day of classes? "Please tell me your name, where you're from, your class, and your major!" As soon as my professors learn any of the students are a senior they automatically ask, "Are you graduating in May? What are your plans?"

I feel like all my classmates have their lives together already! Everyone knows what they want to do and where they want to do it. Meanwhile, I'm over here like, "I like pizza and run a blog!"

I just have so many interests and it's hard for me to narrow it down to one thing I want to do for the rest of my life. I love the idea of having my own business. I really enjoy writing, event planning, and marketing. I also love learning new skills on my own like teaching myself HTML. Good news is, I have 16 weeks to figure it all out.

Any advice for soon-to-be graduates starting their job search?

With Love,

P.S. Anyone in the Northeast Ohio area looking to build their photography portfolio? This whole iPhone camera isn't really working too well for me here...

What's in My Bag?

Back in high school I used to carry around a huge purse that had everything and the kitchen sink carefully placed inside. Seriously, that bag was huge. I once snuck a full size pizza into a movie theater with that bag and my friends didn't even know until I pulled it out and offered them a slice. I can't make this stuff up, Darlings.

Anyways, nowadays I carry items that are more appropriate, with or without the dough, if you know what I mean. Here's what I carry in my purse on a normal day!

Isn't is so great that this is just how my stuff rearranged itself when it fell out of my purse when it tipped over?

I realized through the creation of this post that I carry around a lot of notebooks. The polka dot notebook is actually my editorial calendar shown in my first vlog. The little blue notebook holds my daily to-do lists and my A-List Greek notebook (I just got it since I am a campus rep!) holds any ideas that come to mind for my blog, work, promotion ideas, etc. I also always have my planner with me, but I haven't chosen one for 2014 yet!

Victoria's Secret's Pink perfume is one of my favorites and I try to always have a perfume with me. I'm totally obsessive with the way I smell and constantly ask my friends, "Do I smell bad?" Annoying, I'm sure.

The VerMints Tin doesn't actually have mints in it. It holds my papaya enzyme supplements. As you might know, I try to be as organic as possible when it comes to what I put into my body, including medicines and vitamins. Papaya is a digestive enzyme and never seems to settle well with me and that's all I'm going to say about that issue. Papaya is essentially a much healthier version of Tums and I'm pretty sure it has magical properties...

Other stuff I carry: sunglasses, manicure kit (the sparkly case next to the perfume), keys, pens, Bath & Body Works sanitizer.

What do you carry in your bag, Darling?

2014 Goals

I'm a little late to the party on posting about my 2014 goals. I've been thinking about them for a while now and wasn't quite sure what I want to accomplish this coming year. There's so much change in my life that is going to change and I'm not quite sure what to expect. This year, I'll be graduating from college which will make my life a whole lot different on it's own! With that said,  here are a few of my major goals (outside of blogging) for 2014!

1. Get my driver's license. Yes, I am 22 years old and do not have my license. I've tried to obtain this on multiple occasions but truth is, I hate driving with a passion. I'm also a threat to society as we know it because I'm just that bad at driving.

2. Win a Miss Ohio America local pageant. I've been competing in the system for quite some time now and this year will be my year. I've been dreaming of competing on the Miss Ohio stage since I started competing in pageants. One thing that has been holding me back from competing more often is finances. I already have a dress, swimsuit, and all of that kind of stuff that I've been using for years, so I don't necessarily need to worry about those type of expenses. The Miss America Organization requires contestants to raise a $100 donation for the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) for each local pageant (you can view my donation page here and watch as I reach my goal!). While I adore the CMN (my little sisters are miracle babies) raising the money has proven to be difficult  as a poor college student. Within the next few weeks, I'll be launching an Etsy shop where all the proceeds will go to CMN so be on the lookout for that! Have any sorority stuff or quotes you want to see on a canvas?!

3. Have a job after graduation. I've been working since I started babysitting at 9 years old and having a steady source of income is important to my financial and mental health (hah!). Ensuring that I have a job that will help pay off my student loans upon graduation is vital for this year!

4. Read more! I haven't had much of an opportunity to read books outside of class throughout my college years. Before college, you would never find me without my hands on a good book. With this, I also want to read out loud for 15 minutes each day to assist in developing the way I speak.

...And there you have it! What are your goals for 2014, Darlings?
